Vessel Grounds in Bosphorus Strait, Traffic Suspended

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

September 10, 2015

Traffic has been suspended in both directions on the Bosphorus Strait between 0700 and 1300 local time today as rescue operations are underway to re-float a vessel grounded on the northern side, Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) reports.

The vessel ran aground at 0500 on September 9, the Istanbul Maritime Association of Shipowners & Agents (Vapur Donatanları ve Acenteleri Derneği) advised.

Following today's scheduled rescue operation, the vessel remains grounded. However, southbound passage in the Strait is confirmed to restart from 1430 local time, ISS said.

Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
