Spence Takes over as Noise Control Engineering President
Glosten subsidiary Noise Control Engineering, LLC (NCE), a Massachusetts-based acoustical and structural engineering consultancy, said it has appointed Jesse Spence as its next president.
As NCE president, Spence will have direct responsibility for organizational processes, market assessment and business development. He accepts this position after serving as NCE’s director of technology.
Spence joined NCE in 2001, having led the firm’s efforts to develop and implement technologies and techniques to facilitate solutions to marine acoustic and vibration problems. He has been principal investigator and project manager on a multitude of marine projects requiring airborne noise, vibration, underwater noise, dynamic stress and other specialized predictions, measurements and assessments. In his time at NCE, Spence has developed acoustic solutions for platform supply vessels, offshore patrol vessels, ferries, large and small military vessels, research vessels, dredgers, drillships, drilling and production platforms, high-speed catamarans, tugboats, cruise vessels and other vessel types.
Spence takes over the role from NCE’s founder and president, Ray Fischer. Since founding the firm over 25 years ago, Fischer has directed more than 250 shipboard noise and vibration measurements for demonstration of compliance with habitability criteria, machinery noise and vibration testing, and for diagnostic testing and to verify noise/vibration-modeling techniques. Fischer will now serve as a senior advisor to Spence.
