Sanmar celebrated the delivery of a second tugboat to Ultratug, a leading operator in the Americas, at a special ceremony held at its Altinova Shipyard on August 11, 2026.The tug, UT AMAZONAS, will operate in Colombia and is the sister vessel to UT PATZCUARO, the first tug that Sanmar built for Ultratug, which was delivered just a few months ago and is now operating in Mexico.Guests of honor from Ultratug Colombia at the ceremony were Silvia Herrera, Country Manager of Ultratug Colombia; Cristian Franco, Fleet and Operations Manager, Colombia; and José Morales, Maintenance Engineer, Colombia.

JE Dunn Construction and Alberici Constructors, Inc. celebrated placing the final structural beam of Saronic Technologies’ $300 million shipyard expansion project. Saronic will use the expanded Franklin shipyard to increase production capacity for its fleet of Marauders, the company’s 180-foot fully autonomous ships.The project broke ground in November 2025 and is expected to be completed in early 2027. C&C Marine and Repair has delivered the M/V Mimsy H. Lindner to Canal Barge Company, completing a four-boat series of 2,600-horsepower inland towboats for the New Orleans-based operator. The Mimsy H. Lindner follows the M/V Al Sloss, M/V Deborah H. Valentine and M/V Cabby H. Boone, all built by C&C's Belle Chasse shipyard since January.The M/V Mimsy H. Lindner measures 87' x 33'-8" x 11'-3" inches and is outfitted for Subchapter M service on inland rivers, canals and intracoastal waterways.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Monday the federal government would invest more than C$11 billion ($7.95 billion) to build six new icebreakers for the Canadian Coast Guard.Speaking in Levis, Quebec, Carney said the ships would be built by Quebec shipbuilder Chantier Davie and would replace the Coast Guard's aging heavy and medium icebreakers.After Russia, Canada has the world's second-largest fleet of icebreakers, which routinely escort U.S. ships heading to the Arctic.

Sanmar Shipyards has delivered another new Bogaçay Class tugboat to SAAM Towage as part of the operator's ongoing fleet renewal and decarbonization program. It brings the total number of Sanmar-built vessels in the operator's fleet to 17.Named SAAM CARIBE by its new owners, the tug will join SAAM Towage operations at Cartagena, a major port on the northern coast of Colombia. TOTE Services, LLC, a U.S. maritime services company specializing in vessel construction management and ship management, together with Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Inc. (HPSI), has completed the fourth of five National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMV), the LONE STAR STATE. Fincantieri signed a contract amendment with OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) under the U212 NFS (Near Future Submarine) program, related to the construction of four submarines currently being built by the Group for the Italian Navy at the Integrated Shipyard of Muggiano.The agreement, signed by Joachim Sucker, Director of OCCAR-EA and by Fulvio Palermo, Head of Project Management of Fincantieri’s Naval Vessels Division, is worth approximately USD$360.5 (317 million euros) and extends the scope of activities assigned to Fincantieri under the program.

Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with Seaspan ULC for the delivery of two ASD Tugs 2813. The signing took place on May 19, at the International Tug and Salvage (ITS) Convention in Gothenburg, Sweden. The ASD Tugs 2813 will be the first Damen Tugs to enter the Seaspan fleet. The new tugs will be operated under the HaiSea Marine partnership, a joint venture between Seaspan and the Haisla Nation, the indigenous people of Kitamaat Village and the surrounding lands and waters of the Kitimat region in British Columbia.The ASD Tug 2813 is designed for combined safety and efficiency.

Damen Naval has signed a procurement contract with Libra-Plast AS in Norway for the delivery of all watertight, weathertight and gastight doors and hatches for the PES project. Under this project, a Damen SIGMA frigate will be built by COTECAR at its shipyard in Cartagena.Libra-Plast will be able to meet the quality standards and requirements needed for the PES frigate.

Dutch shipyard Concordia Damen announced it has received a contract from TUI River Cruise for two CDS River Cruise 135 vessels. These cruisers are of in-house design and have been tailored to TUl's needs.TUI River Cruises' fleet is currently expanding from six to 10 ships, which will operate across Europe, the Rhine, Nile and the Douro. The two river cruisers that Concordia is constructing are designed for the UK market.These two newbuilds are constructed with methanol as a future fuel in mind. CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping christened CY Frontier, the first of four BC-Class Heavy Transport Vessels (HTVs). The vessel was christened by Jenny Jung, who served as its godmother. Sanmar Shipyards has delivered two tugboats to SAAM Towage, a pair of IMO Tier Ill-compliant vessels were recently handed over to SAAM Towage representatives at Sanmar Shipyards' Altinova facilities in Türkiye following sea trials. SAAM Towage signed a contract with the Belov shipyard for the construction of four new tugboats. This project is part of the company's strategy for the ongoing updating of its fleet and reinforces its growth in that market, where it operates in 19 ports with more than 65 ships.The new vessels will be azimuth tugs with a bollard pull of 70 metric tons. They are equipped with a FiFi 1 fire suppression system and were designed by Robert Allan, an international naval architecture firm.
