The U.S. Coast Guard is amending its regulations relating to
requirements for servicing of inflatable liferafts and inflatable buoyant
apparatus carried on U.S. vessels. The first servicing for new devices will
be deferred for two years after initial packing on all commercial vessels
not certificated under SOLAS. The rule comes into effect on September 30,
2002.
